Connected to Massachusetts mainland by two bridges, Cape Cod hosts an unpretentious golf scene where most of the courses are accessible to the public.  As unpretentious as it is though, you will still find courses designed by some of golf's most famed architects.  When you aren't enjoying a clam bake or fresh lobster, the moderate climate on Cape Cod allows for a great round of golf all year long.

Dennis Pines Golf Course

This well-taken care of muni is one of the longest courses on the cape.  Designed by Henry C. Mitchell, this course will challenge you with its tight cut through a twisting forest, giving you some blind drives as well as fairways that hug the lake.  You will need to bring your A-game for sure on this course.

The Captains Golf Course, Port Course

The Port Course is the more challenging of the two courses at The Captains Golf Course.  It has some unique features such as two kettle ponds.  The bunkers are well-placed and the tree-lined fairways will demand attention.  The 17th hole is long and difficult in particular.

Highland Links

Highland Links is considered just one of two courses in the U.S. that can truly be classified as a links layout and is one of America's most historic courses, dating back to 1892.  It sits along the windswept bluffs of the Atlantic and is sculpted with dunes, craggy rocks and Scotch broom.  Making shots through narrow gauntlets flanked by thorny shrubs and wind are some of the many challenges on this course.  But it couldn't be more picturesque with its shingled pro shop sitting next to a tall lighthouse.

Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club

Several million went into upgrading this Brian Silva design, which added more bunkers and lengthened the course to 7,011 yards.  The Nicklaus Design Group also incorporated some of the original nine holes as well.  The carries over water are dramatic, like on the eighth hole.  The 14th will test you with bunkers, wetlands, water and wind, but with five sets of tees, a round of golf is wonderful for all skill levels.  Play is open to the resort's members and guests so you'll need to stay to play.
